Application to the Program
BYU Students
After completing the Pre-Information Systems Core courses and submitting the Major Declaration form, you are ready to apply to the Information Systems program. Generally, the deadline to apply to the program is the last working day of June at 4:30pm. Application to the program takes place online. The online application consists of entering Pre-Information Systems Core course grades, answering relevant application questions, and writing a few short essays.
After submitting your application, you will receive notification of the acceptance committee's decision within one month of your submission date. You may use the same application link found above to check the decision status of your application.
Instructions about responding to your acceptance will be included with the acceptance form. You will need to respond to the acceptance letter in order to be able to register for the Junior Core courses. You are also required to attend a special orientation meeting held usually the first or second day of fall semester.
Generally, 200-300 students apply to the Information Systems program each year. Despite the demand for the program, approximately 130 students are accepted.
Transfer Students
Students tranfering from another university or other institution will need to contact Ann Sumsion (mism@byu.edu; 801-422-5602) in the Information Systems Department office to get specific instructions on how to apply to the program.
