Prerequisites to the Program
Declare Your Major
In order to start on the path of getting your Bachelors Degree in Information Systems, you will need to obtain and submit a Major Declaration form in room 460 of the Tanner Building. If you have any questions about declaring your major, you are welcome to contact the advisement personnel in this office at the following number: 801-422-4285.
Pre-Information Systems Core
In addition to declaring your major, you need to complete the following Pre-Information Systems Core courses:

A student with extensive previous Excel and/or PowerPoint experience may demonstrate his/her skills by receiving a "B" or higher grade in the equivalent I Sys 100 and I Sys 101 transfer course(s) or by scoring an 80% or higher grade on a challenge exam.
A minimum 3.00 Pre-ISys GPA and a minimum 3.00 overall GPA (with no program course grade lower than a C+) are required for application. Meeting minimum GPA requirements does not guarantee acceptance. Acceptance is based on the candidate's Pre-Information Systems Core GPA, Overall GPA, last 30 credit hours GPA and essay. Pre-Information Systems Core courses may be repeated no more than once. Repeated course grades will be adjusted down 0.33 grade--for example, from an "A" to an "A-"--in the Pre-Information Systems Core GPA during acceptance evaluation.
Pre-Management Core
In addition to the Pre-Information Systems Core courses, the following courses are not pre-requisites to your applying to the Information Systems program, but are courses that must be completed before starting the Management Core.

Econ 110, Math 119, and Stat 221 can be taken prior to applying to the BSIS program. These courses should be completed as soon as possible. In addition, these courses should be completed before entering the MISM program.
